Our campfire smoke hangs over our camp in this view. The way out is by climbing a couple of hundred feet to the ridge beyond the lake.

After climbing to the ridge, the trail traverses down this big switchback. Above this point the Massie Lake Trail traverses meadows all the way to Buck Creek Pass, but going down a short way from here the trail enters the forest the rest of the way.

This is the first switchback of countless others on the way down. We were in good spirits though - a warm October day, out in the high country, and headed for a burger at the 59'ner Diner on US 2 (What could be Finer!)
