The sun came out soon after we got to the lake- the hike to the lake was very cold and foggy. You can see it was winter time by the ice ringing this small waterfall. Even though it was cold, it was nice to get out in the sun at this time of year.

In the backgound you can see Our camp, which was on a peninsula jutting out into the lake. This is a desert hike and there is no available wood to burn. If you want a campfire, you have to carry the wood in from the cars. On a cold night such as this a campfire is very welcome!

It was a bright sunny morning - no fog or clouds. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast and the warm sun until it was time to pack up and head out. The hike out was pleasant although the frozen ground had thawed and made for some muddy going in places. You can see the columnar basalt in the cliffs on the opposite side of the lake.
